COPD, emphysema, LVRS: as four months after the operation
It is now more than four months have passed since the operation. I thought so, I could once again travel to Thailand, but it does not seem to be possible. After the last lung function and blood gas analysis showed Nobember end that my FEV1 is not further improved. The figure is 21.50% of the target. They are also 870 ml of oxygen PaO2 decreased. So far I had no problems, but now the figure is 9.10 kPa, ie 68.25 mm Hg, the oxygen saturation at rest is thus about 92 - 94% and decreases rapidly when moving. This I could without continuous measurement (eg in the walk test) feel, as I already after about 100 m walking slowly out of breath.
with my data took the high oxygen partial account of an expected PaO2 of 43 mm Hg in altitude (about 2500 - 3000 m above sea level). The limit is 50 mm Hg Thus, the health insurance from the lung specialist requested in writing the cost of additional oxygen to take on board. After 4 weeks waiting time the request was rejected. - I found a bit confusing. I then wrote, even the health insurance company and requested a detailed justification for this decision. It then took another week and I received a positive decision. Sorry, but everything has taken too much time. A trip would now be the earliest possible to the middle or end of February. - In Thailand begins in March and the hot period in May / June rainy season until September / October. - In my state, it is probably better if I let it travel. Actually I had
can operate on me to be fit to travel. The late intervention and the subsequent unexpected complications have now spoiled.
thus decreased my quality of life considerably. - So I'm sitting all winter in my apartment. The last time I was more than a month away from home.
